Another long day in the saddle so we were up at sparrows, breakfast at 6.30 am and on the road at 7.15 am.

Brekky in the canteen

Mt. Isa at dawn!!

A fairly boring day riding 625 kms due west on the Barkly Highway. The first stop was at Camooweal about 18 kms before the NT border.

The sign indicating you were about to enter the vast metropolis of Camooweal.
The Camooweal stockman.

The Barkly Highway was built by engineers during WWII and carried over a 1000 vehicles a day for the defence of Australia.

The Northern Territory border was only 18 kms west of Camooweal. The speed limit went from 110 kph to 130 kph ..go figure that.

Ready to fang across the Northern Territory border!!!

Adrian on his Goldwing managed to break the air valve on his front wheel so his bike had to be trailered to Tennant Creek. Luckily Graham Merrick has a spare valve so Adrian is going to have it fitted at a local tyre dealer tomorrow. The Barkly Roadhouse is a bit rundown from the last time Colin and l were there in 2014. They are short staffed and the service was pretty poor.
Whatever happened to the long and winding road???

Tennant Creek is rough and ready with bars on most windows. The motel locks its main gate after dark to keep the local indigenous people at bay. I've heard that they still manage to scale the walls. They are only looking for grog and don't damage property. We are having dinner within the castle walls this evening.
It will be another long day tomorrow 675 kms to Katherine. I'm  getting used to it and as long as I take break every two hours or so I manage to make it to the destinationin in one piece.
