The sponsor of todays blog entry took his role "very seriously" when he turned up at breakfast in our hotel this morning. John Warner, a member of the Northern Beaches Ulysses Club was in town to farewell Erica and Alan on their way to Port Hedland. Nice touch John.

I topped up my tank at the Roebuck roadhouse even though I had only done 40 kms. It was good that I did as the 290 kms to the Sandfire roadhouse at a pretty brisk pace left me with only 2 litres in my tank. Erica had to get fuel from the sweeper truck as she was getting close to her limit.
The Great Northern Road to Port Hedland was pretty boring with long stretches of straight road and only scrubby bush for scenery. Both Sandfire and Pardoo roadhouses are pretty rundown. The ride to Sandfire was 290 kms and my fuel just lasted the pace.

The ride to Pardoo was only 140 kms but I was completely knackered by the time I got there so had lunch and a long stop with the rest of the riders.

We had a few sunset drinks at the motel in Port Hedland followed by an excellent dinner.
This is a strange picture taken by Denby.
